SCAR-15 Biobank
The Jack Bear Foundation is excited to partner with The Coriell Institute for Medical Research to establish a biobank for Spinocerebellar Ataxia Recessive -Type 15.
Managed by the NIGMS Repository at Coriell, this global resource collects and stores patient cell samples to help scientists study genetic mutations, understand cell function, and advance treatments and potential cures.
With nearly 65 years of expertise, Coriell sets the gold standard in biobanking, providing researchers with well-characterized cell cultures and DNA preparations annotated with rich phenotypic data. By participating, you contribute to groundbreaking research that could transform the future of SCAR-15 care.
About the Biobank
Join the SCAR-15 biobank to advance research and support the development of treatments. By donating a blood sample, you’ll help scientists worldwide study genetic mutations, disease progression, and potential therapies.
All samples are anonymized and stored securely, reducing time and accelerating discoveries. Your contribution is vital to driving breakthroughs in SCAR-15 care. Together, we can make a difference.
SCAR-15 Researchers
Are you a stakeholder interested in using patient cell lines to further your SCAR-15 research?
Join The Program
Participating in the SCAR-15 biobank helps advance research and potential treatments. By donating blood samples, you enable scientists to test therapies and identify safe, effective approaches for clinical trials.
Samples are needed from SCAR-15 patients of all ages and their unaffected parents; sibling donations are appreciated but optional. All samples are de-identified to protect your privacy.
Thank you for supporting SCAR-15 research. To participate, email NIGMS@Coriell.org or click the link below!
Requesting a collection kit is simple:
Fill out the form.
Schedule a blood collection with your doctor, which can be done during your child’s regular check-up appointments. Please inform your doctor in advance that you will need a blood collection.
Once your appointment is scheduled, Coriell will send you a collection kit, along with easy-to-follow instructions, to bring to your doctor's appointment.
By submitting this form, you agree you are interested in submitting a blood sample for your SCAR-15 family member.
